“Devo” is Granola Bar Devotional’s abbreviation for devotional. Devotional writing has a long history, and the expression of a devotional takes on many forms. Sometimes viewed as a less important genre due to its informal form, devotional writing may be overlooked as important literature.
However, devotionals have proven themselves to be so deeply rooted in Christian literature and leadership that their influence on Christian thought and culture can’t be ignored. Many of today’s spiritual leaders both consume and produce devotional literature.
Devotionals are expressions of devotion to the Lord used to edify His children. They can appear as journal entries, prayers, Scripture meditations and faith stories. All of the forms of the devotional have one thing in common: They express a singular moment when God’s heart collides with the hearts of His people.
In a devotional, a deeper awareness of God’s character is captured, the moment is packaged in language and the product is shared for the edification of others. Therefore, Granola Bar Devotional is a two-fold ministry: We encourage devotional writing and we publish them for others to read. Our passion is to serve the world spiritual nourishment written by everyday people who have a heart for God through Jesus Christ.
We specifically focus on devotionals that are written as faith stories. Our goal is to reveal God’s divine presence in the daily lives of His people. We want to “tell everyone about the amazing things He does.” We hope you join us in our efforts.
* We add a word pic to every post specially created for each devotional. These images are necessary for the mobility of the devotionals through social media networks.
