God’s Navigational System

February 28, 2011 by Faith Imagined Leave a Comment

I have a love/hate relationship with navigational systems. Don’t look surprised. You know what I’m talking about. For years I traveled with nothing more than an atlas and my sense of direction.

Several years ago, my sister bought me a navigational system for my annual summer journey. Not trusting it, I kept my handy atlas on the passenger’s seat. After several hours of hearing that voice tell me what to do, I finally found the mute button.

But I have to admit, it was a tremendous help when I was within an hour of my destination and hit a detour. No matter how many times I twisted and turned through the backwoods, she always kept my destination in mind. She always pointed me in the right direction.

Often we find ourselves in a situation where we don’t know which direction to take. It can be something small. What do I do this weekend? It could be a major life decision. Do I take the job clear across the country, moving away from family and friends?

God is the Navigator and He’s given us a navigational system in His Word. Unlike the obnoxious voice in that little black box, His Word doesn’t tell us to “turn left” or “bear right.” We need to be willing to open His Word and search it for ourselves. He will certainly guide us in the right direction if we’re willing to follow His instructions.

I didn’t know which road would lead me to my destination, but the navigational system had it all under control. Trust that God knows where your life is going and He has the best path planned for you.

Memory Verse:
“Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.”
– Psalm 25:4 (KJV)

Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, even when we don’t see what is ahead, help us to rely on You completely. We know that You will help us reach our destination….”
